In NX 1872, there are two types of sketch1. Direct Sketch2. Sketch in Task Environment
Both sketch options can be located under linear menu by following the pathMenu > Insert > SketchMenu > Insert > Sketch in Task Environment
While ‘Direct Sketch‘ is present in the ‘Direct Sketch‘ group under the ‘Home‘ tab of the ribbon bar, The ‘Sketch in Task Environment‘ is present in the ‘Curve‘ group under the ‘Curve‘ tab of the ribbon bar.
Enhancement #1Starting from NX 1899, ‘Direct Sketch‘ is replaced with ‘Sketch in Task Environment‘ and it is now renamed as simply ‘Sketch‘. All new sketches that you will create now will be in the sketch task environment.
Enhancement #2Renamed ‘Sketch‘ command is now present in the ‘Construction‘ group along with other commands Datum Plane, Datum Axis and Datum CSYS.
Enhancement #3On ribbon bar, Renamed ‘Sketch’ command can be found in the construction group of Home, Curve and Surface tabs.
Enhancement #4After finishing the sketch, It will remain selected so that you can use it as a input for the subsequent command (e.g. Extrude, Revolve etc.). If next command does not support or take sketch as an input then the selection will be ignored. You can explicitly deselect sketch by clicking in the empty space of graphics window.Enhancement #5The ‘Sketch Relations Browser‘ command is renamed to ‘Sketch Constraints Browser‘.
